Imec jv said to be supplying photoresist to Samsung

Author: EIS Release Date: Aug 14, 2019

Samsung has found a source of photoresist from a Belgian company believed to be EUV Resist Manufacturing & Qualification Center – an Imec-JSR jv set up three years ago, reports the Nikkei.

The Japan government has put restrictions on the export of photoresist to Korea as part of its trade war.

It is thought that, because the Belgian facility has existed for sometime, it is not subject to Japan’s export restrictions.

Japan has allowed a shipment of photoresist, believed to come from Shin-Etsu, to Korea.

Morita Chemical Industries of Japan is to produce  ultrapure hydrogen fluoride – another material on the Japanese government’s restricted export list – in a jv in China which could also supply Korea.
