Pickering Electronics will introduce a series of surface-mount >1kV reed relays at Productronica in Munich next week.

Series 219 reed relays “can effortlessly switch up to 1kV, and are the only surface mount high voltage relays available in the market in 2 Form A and 1 Form B packages”, according to the company.

Some details are available now: stand-off is 3kV in the 1 form A package, 2kV in the 1 form B package and 1.5kV in the 2 form A package.

Switch-to-coil isolation is 5kV stand-off in 1 Form A and 1 Form B types.

Switching is up to 0.7A or 10W, and operation is over -40 to +105°C.

Coil choice is 3V, 5V, or 12V, and they measure 17.2 x 10.5 (plus leads) x 8.5mm high.

Applications are foreseen in testers for: mixed-signal semiconductors, medical equipment and electric vehicle charge points, as well as for monitoring solar cell photovoltaic efficiency.
