“Equipped with soldered ram, the computer-on-modules provide compliance for shock and vibration resistant operation in harsh environments up to highest railway standards,” claimed the company. “Target applications are manned and unmanned rail and off-road vehicles for mining, construction, agriculture, forestry. Shock and vibration resistant stationary devices with high temperature fluctuations are further important application areas.”

Named TC675R, up to 14 cores and 20 threads are available, alongside LPDDR5x memory with in-band error code correction (IBECC) “so no special memory is needed for mission critical applications requiring highest data integrity”, said Congatec.

Amongst the cores on each processor are a mix of performance-optimised and energy efficiency-optimised cores (‘P’ and ‘E’ cores, see table).

For real-time use, time-sensitive networking (TSN) and time-coordinated computing (TCC) are supported.

The boards measure 95 x 95 mm, and both active and passive cooling accessories are available for them. Conformal coating is an option to increase protection against moisture, thermal shock, static, vibration and contamination.

“For virtual machine deployments and workload consolidation in edge computing, customers can order the modules with pre-evaluated real-time hypervisor technology from Real-Time Systems,” said Congatec. “Additional services including shock and vibration tests, temperature screening and high-speed signal compliance testing.” There are also training sessions.
