EDA and IP company, Synopsys, has acquired Qualtera, the big data analytics specialist for semiconductor test and manufacturing.
The real-time observation of semiconductor test and manufacturing can provide intelligence on production to help decision making as well as to shorted iterative product introduction and improve yield. According to Qualtera, its big data analytics means anything that threatens to detract from the yield levels is automatically identified, enabling manufacturers to focus on key productivity issue and quality control.
Analysis of silicon data early in the design cycle can contribute to improvements in design modelling parameters. Further along the design cycle, analytics correlate design and test results data to improve yield during the manufacturing process.
According to Synopsys, Qualtera’s analytics technology, combined with Synopsys Yield Explorer, yield management and its TestMAX test automation tool, can improve the process of using silicon measurements to guide improvements throughout the device development and manufacturing lifecycle. The combination also enables a post-silicon optimisation to maximise efficiencies from design to shipment.
The financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.
