This year, in the wake of Covid-19, the Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition is going online.

Running from 13 – 17 July, the free event aims to celebrate advances in science and scientific research. It features a week of interactive quizzes, creative challenges and a range of talks on science topics, including the science of pets, doping in sports and Antarctica exploration.

There will also be a chance to catch up with the progress of some of the researchers from past years, who previously showcased their work at Summer Science.

You can see the full programme here, and a playlist on YouTube will capture any sessions you miss during the week.

The Society says:

“We’re merging the old and the new, with highlights from our favourite exhibition moments over the years. You can find out what researchers from past years have been up to since showcasing their work at Summer Science. There is also a chance to explore some of the historic artefacts, manuscripts and records from our rich, 350-year-old archive.”

“Whether you’re keen to delve into our rich, 350-year-old archive to explore the legacy of the Exhibition and our historic artefacts, manuscripts and records, or want to tune in for our family friendly big Summer Science quiz, complete with a round for younger viewers, there’s something for all ages and interests. Plus, we will be giving you a sneak preview of next year’s exhibition, with announcements throughout the week about the 2021 line-up.”
