1kW programmable DC PSU fits 1U rack slot

TDK has introduced power supplies up to 1kW that fit into 1U slots in equipment racks.

G1kW is 483mm wide and fits across the whole rack

GH1kW is 214mm wide and, using the GH/RM option, two can be mounted side by side in a standard 19in rack

They fill out the low-power end of the company’s Genesys+ series and can also be used stand-alone on a bench top. OEM, industrial and laboratory applications are foreseen.

Ten models are available with outputs at 0-10V, 20V, 30V, 40V, 60V, 80V, 100V, 150V, 300V and 600V. Accordingly, output currents span from 0 to 100A, to 0 to 1.7A respectively.

“All models transition seamlessly between constant voltage and constant current operation and also have constant power limit mode,” said TDK. “Multiple power supplies can be connected in parallel with a patented master/slave system that provides dynamic load response and ripple and noise characteristics comparable with that of a single power supply.”

The input voltage range is 85 to 265Vac.

Weigh <3.5kg  for the half rack type and 5kg for the wider ones. Blank front panel options are available where user access is not required or needs to be restricted, and snap-on dust filters can also be added to restrict airborne contamination.

Programming is either through front panel controls; digitally via LAN (LXI 1.5), USB 2.0 or RS232/485; or there is isolated analogue control and monitoring (0-5V, 0-10V).

Optional interfaces include a choice of GPIB (IEEE488.2) and the Anybus CompactCom interface for EtherCAT and Modbus-TCP. Other interface options are planned.

Software drivers, a waveform creator and a virtual front panel graphical user interface are provided in the software package.

“The five-year warranty series is safety certified to IEC/EN/UL 61010-1 with CE marking to the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives,” said TDK. “The Genesys+ series is also compliant to IEC/EN 61203-3 for conducted and radiated EMI and EMC immunity.”
