TSMC will start producing 5nm Arm-based SoCs for Macs costing $100 in H1 2021, says TrendForce.

The cost is about half the current price of Intel Core i3 processors.

The Arm-based SoCs to be introduced in Macs starting in Q4 will be made on a 7nm process.

The 5nm SoCs will first appear in Macs in H2.

Mass production of the new SoC for this year’s iPhones – dubbed A14 – is underway.

Small scale production of the A14X Bionic for next year’s new iPads starts in Q3.
