Hynix had Q2 gross profits of $1.62 billion and net profit of $1.1 billion on revenue of $7.2 billion.
“Both the company’s revenue and operating income increased by 20% and 143% quarter-over-quarter respectively,” says Hynix said in a statement, “surging demand for server memory maintained favourable memory price while numerous factors including the increase of the main products’ yield rate led to cost reduction.”
Hynix saw its DRAM bit shipments and ASPs increase 2% and 15%, respectively, on quarter as stable growth in demand for servers and graphics products was able to offset weakness in demand for mobile devices.
NAND flash bit shipments and ASPs grew 5% and 8%, respectively, q-o-q.
SSD business accounted for nearly 50% of its total NAND flash revenue for the first time in the second quarter.
