Mechatronics supplier Electro Mechanical Systems (EMS) is opening a factory in Dorset.
EMS-Dorset-facility
Enterprise House is a 40,000 square foot building on an secure two acre site on Holton Heath near Poole Harbour.
It is a “welcome improvement from the previous facility where the evolution of the business resulted in the company working from multiple units”, according to the company. “As a Dorset based business since 1953, it was important to us to invest in the local community that has served us so well for nearly 70 years.”
The company supplies proprietary motors, gear-heads, encoders and actuation systems, and offers bespoke design and manufacture of complete drive systems.
The factory will use Industry 4.0 technology for communication from servers to machine tools, and thermal stability will be built into in the manufacturing areas to maintain precision.
The location will also provide research and development space, in-house testing capability and conference facilities.
There will be solar panels on the roof and electric vehicle charging points in the car park.
