GCT has launched a short body style USB 2.0 type-A connector to cut PCB footprint to 131mm2.
GTC-usb1125-connector
Called USB1125, shell depth has been cut to 10mm, although predicted rated life has been kept high – 5,000 mating cycles – through work on the six sprung retention tabs. 5,000 cycles gets the connector a ‘high-durability’ rating in USB parlance. ‘Standard’ is 1,500. GTC also makes a 20,000 cycle USB 3.0 Type A connector, the USB1086.
“The USB-A connector is just as popular today as when it was launched over 20 years ago,” said GCT product manager Paul Hulatt.
Shell height is 6.5mm, and the connector has through-hole location stakes to provide a solid mount – although no location pegs.
Rating are 30Vac and 1.5A, with 30mΩ max contact resistance and 1GΩ min insulation resistance. Dielectric withstanding is 500Vac for one minute between adjacent terminals.
Mating force is 35N (3.57Kgf) max, while unmating force is 10N (1.02Kgf) min.
Operation is over -25°C to +85°C.
