“In applications such as electric vehicle power conversion, aircraft power systems, battery chargers and other high pulse applications, the 958A offers high current and reliability in a high-impact polymer case for insulation and durability,” according to New Yorker Electronics, which is stocking the part and is a franchised Electrocube distributor.
Electrocube-958a-metallised-polypropylene-capacitorsLife rating for the parts is 100,000 hours at 70°C, and they are intended to be replacements for electrolytic capacitors. Winding is non-inductive. Operation is over -55°C to +85°C at rated voltage.
Voltage ratings vary from 500V (120-500μF) to 2kV (6.8-25μF), in cases from 87mm dia x 41mm high to 115mm dia x 65mm high. Tolerance is ±5% or ±10%.
Electrocube-958a-capacitorsThere is choice of terminal: threaded insert or terminal studs – then options for customising insulating sleeves, mountings, terminals (or leads) and some electrical characteristics.
End-fill is epoxy that meets UL94V0, and both RoHS and non-RoHS variants are available for most devices.
As well as electric vehicle power conversion, applications are expected in aircraft power systems, battery chargers and high pulse situations.
Founded in 1961, Electrocube designs and manufacturers of passive electrical components – film capacitors, RC networks, EMI filters and foil transformers.
