Ac-dc DIN rail PSUs fit are Class II and low-profile

Author: EIS Release Date: Oct 21, 2020

XP Power has released three series of DIN rail mount ac-dc PSUs for industrial electronics, controls and building management.

XP-Power-DRC-psu

“The low-profile case allows DRC series power supplies to be positioned alongside circuit breakers within consumer unit boxes,” according to the company. “The convection cooled units offer Class II operation, eliminating the need for a safety earth connection.”

  • DRC30 92.6 x 35 x 58mm
  • DRC60  92.6 x 52 x 58mm
  • DRC100  92.6 x 70 x 58mm)

There are described as 30W, 60W and 100W respectively by XP, but only the higher output voltage variants in each series can provide the nominal power. For example, the ’60W’ 5V is rated at 6.5A output (33W) and the 12V only 54W, so check the data sheets.

Output voltage options:

  • 5V (except DRC100)
  • 12V
  • 15V
  • 24V
  • 48V

Operation is across 85 to 264Vac or 120 to 370Vdc, and from -30°C to +70°C with derating (but see power rating caveat above).

Efficiency can be as high as 91% (48V 60W), and all have 4kV of input-output isolation.

Screw terminals are used for input and output connections, and there is a front panel adjuster for output voltage (approx -10% to +15%) – the latter installations where there is a long output cable run, said XP.

Also on the front is a ‘DC ON’ LED indicator.

Certification is to EN55032 Class B for conducted and radiated emissions, removing the need for external filtering in some applications.

DRC units are available from Digi-Key, Farnell, Mouser, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power. There is a three-year warranty.
