Electromagnetic field safety equipment supplier Link Microtek has launched a two-day training course to help organisations comply with the 2013/35/EU EMF Directive and the UK-specific Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work (CEMFAW) Regulations 2016, “which placed specific requirements on employers to perform EMF risk assessments”, according to Link.
It will be held in Baisingstoke on on 22-23 October this year, and is aimed at anyone who has responsibility for managing EMF safety in the workplace – particular those in the telecommunications, broadcast, defence, medical, scientific and industrial sectors.
“It’s a common assumption that EMF risk assessments are somehow too complicated to perform without a lot of expert advice,” said Link Microtek technical director Hugo Bibby. “In reality, most assessments are relatively simple, and it’s just a matter of knowing how to use the sources of information that surround the EMF Directive and CEMFAW Regulations. If the assessment is more complicated, then possibly some measurements may be required, but again the measurement process is often relatively simple.”
The course is intended to equip attendees with everything they need to carry out an EMF safety assessment for their organisation, and will begin with the articles of the EMF Directive, the decision-making process around the risk assessment, ‘exposure limit values and action levels’, preventive measures and protective measures.
Subsequent topics include how to:
Then, after looking at a variety of real-world case studies and assessment scenarios, course delegates will have the opportunity for hands-on practical measurements.
Link Microtek has more than 20 years experience in EMF safety.
