Kioxia is to start buildIng a new fab, Fab 7, at its Yokkaichi site in Spring 2021.

Fab7 will be built on the north side of Yokkaichi Plant, where land development is underway.

Construction will be divided into two phases, with the first phase of construction scheduled to be completed by the Spring of 2022.

Kioxia plans to fund the capital investments for the construction of Fab7 from its operating cash flow.

Fab7 facility will have an earthquake-absorbing structure and an environmentally friendly design that includes the latest energy-saving manufacturing equipment.

In September, Kioxia called off a planned IPO citing difficulties in supplying Huawei under US trade restrictions.
