Triad RF Systems has developed a dual, bi-directional amplifier that supports 2×2 MIMO radio.
TriadRFsystems-bidir-SSPA-TTRM2005D
TTRM2005D is a solid-state Class-AB LDMOS power amplifier that operates across 2.2 – 2.5GHz and designed for military and commercial use.
Signal types from simple CW/FM signals to complex highly-modulated carriers such as 64 and 256QAM are supported.
“Being LDMOS, it’s capable of achieving either highly linear power with low distortion, or performing at peak power with high efficiencies,” according to the company. “It is capable of supporting any signal type and modulation format, including 3 and 4G telecom, WLAN, OFDM, DVB, QAM, and CW/AM/FM technologies.”
TriadRFsystems-bidir-SSPA-TTRM2005D-blockEach of the two bi-directional amplifier channels has a transmit gain of 25dB, a receive gain of 12dB, a receive signal noise figure of 2.5dB, and ~20W BPSK power x2 (40W of total RF power).
Supply voltage is an 12 – 30Vdc.
Different part numbers allow a choice of manual or automatic transmit-receive switching, and to add an optional heatsink.
Other features include: a temperature monitor output, over-temperature protection and amplifier status output.
It measures 86 x 66 x 17mm and weighs 140g “making it the smallest standardised amplifier of its kind”, claimed Triad.
As well as MIMO radio, triad sees it being used in software defined radios (SDR) and general purpose RF amplification.
