Author: EIS Release Date: Jul 15, 2021

RootMetrics’ 5G Scorecard reports on Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle examines “Everyday 5G” performance by the networks – a metric which includes results recorded on both 5G-only technology and 5G mixed mode – an increasingly common experience for UK consumers of switching between 5G and 4G LTE during the same data service.

Combining these two 5G possibilities, Everyday 5G results reflect the most typical user experience when connected to 5G for any amount of time.

The Scorecard reads:

  • EE records the highest Everyday 5G availability in all four cities tested in the latest period.
  • Vodafone posts fast Everyday 5G median download speeds in three cities, and ties with EE for Everyday 5G availability and Everyday 5G median download speed in Liverpool.
  • O2, recently merged with Virgin Media, records the fastest Everyday 5G median download speed in all four cities, at 153.4 Mbps in Leicester.
  • Three improves Everyday 5G availability in all four cities since 2H 2020 and Everyday 5G median download speeds in three.
  • Everyday 5G availability and Everyday 5G media download speeds in the North and Midlands rivalling those in London, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
