The EMEA PC market grew 3% y-o-y in Q3 with 18.8 million units shipped, says IDC.
Commercial shipments were up 9.4% y-o-y while consumer shipments were down 4%.
The Western European PC market grew by 3.3% y-o-y with consumer down 3.3% and commercial up 8.3%.
“Vendors were largely able to cope with ongoing component shortages by transitioning to alternate configurations and manufacturers where possible, enabling them to satisfy sustained demand for the ongoing refresh,” says IDC’s Liam Hall.
The commercial PC market in CEE (Central and Eastern Europe) grew 10.7% y-o-y with consumer falling 11.3% due to supply chain constraints.
The MEA region returned to growth after four quarters of decline with growth of 9.3% y-o-y. Consumer was up 5.2% and commercial up 13.7%.
The top 3 vendors’ share continued to grow in 2019Q3. The top 3 players accounted for 67.1% of total market volume, compared with 63.7% in 2018Q3.
HP maintained its lead in the EMEA PC market, with 28.8% market share (up 1.6% points y-o-y.
Lenovo (including Fujitsu) was No.2 with 25.3% market share (+1.7% points y-o-y).
Dell was No.3 with 13.1% market share (up 0.2% points y-o-y) with unit growth of 4.9% y-o-y.
Acer was fourth with 8.2% market share (-0.7% points YoY) despited ac 5.3% y-oy decline in units.
Apple was fifth with a share of 7.4% (-0.7% points y-o-y) with consumer down 6% and commercial down 4.3%.
