Electromechanical component distributor, Foremost Electronics, has added switching products from Elma Electronics to its linecard.

These include the X4 and  MR50 rotary switches. The former is a designed for the toughest requirements, says the company, and has an optional pushbutton function. The switch incorporates a magnetic, Hall effect (contactless) sensing system for rugged, reliable, long life operation. The microcontroller-based circuitry provides absolute code (Grey) with analogue and PWM, or encoder output.

The MR50 multi-functional rotary switch is a half-inch selector switch designed for portable outdoor devices, military radios, aiming systems and vision devices, test and measurement equipment and instrumentation as well as aircraft cockpit applications. It offers up to 16 switch positions, switching torques of up to 6Ncm, and operates either in shorting or non-shorting modes. The 3µm gold-plated contacts protect to IP68. The switch operates at -45°C to +85°C.

Encoder switches, also suitable for use in demanding environments, are also available from the distributor. The E33 encoder switches can be used in mobile applications targeting public safety, and all E33 series encoders have the company’s Swiss Click Indexing System that ensures consistent turning torque over the encoder’s entire lifetime. Standard features include 16 or 32 detents resolution, optional integrated pushbutton, rotational life up to 1,000,000 revolutions, optional IP68 front panel sealing, MIL-STD-202G compliant and an operating range from -40°C to +85°C.
