Theranos founder found guilty of fraud
Author: EIS Release Date: Jan 11, 2022
Yesterday Theranos founder Elizabeth Holnes was found guilty on four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud against investors.
Holnes claimed to have a technology which could make a raft of medical diagnoses from a finger prick of blood.
“She chose fraud over business failure. She chose to be dishonest with investors and with patients,” accused the prosecutor.
She was found not guilty on four counts and the jury could not reach a decision on three counts.
Theranos was famous for its celebrity investors like Rupert Murdoch and Larry Ellison, and celebrity board members like Henry Kissinger., former Secretary of State George Schultz and General Jim Mattis.
Holmes was seen to have taken the old West Coast practice of ‘fake it till you make it’ a bit too far.
