Tektronix has unveiled flat-profile 500MHz mixed-signal oscilloscopes intended to be used on the bench and in the field.

Called ‘2 Series Mixed Signal Oscilloscope’, they maximise frontal area for display (10.1in touchscreen) and control by being only 38mm thick. Weight is 1.8kg and they “can go seamlessly from the bench to the field and back, enabling workflows previously unimagined on a scope. It is the first portable oscilloscope to offer bench top performance,” said the company.

There is a choice of two or four channels analogue channels and, as well as 500MHz, there are variants with 20, 70, 100, 200 or 350MHz bandwidth, which can be upgraded later. 16 digital channels will be “available with future software release”, said Tek.
The standard probes are 200MHz TPP0200.
Sampling is at 1.25Gsample/s on all channels (2ns/div), or 2.5Gsample/s on half the channels (1ns/div), and there is a 10Mpoint memory.
With high frequency caveats, protection is to 300Vrms CAT II with peaks under ±425V.
There is an optional 50MHz arbitrary function generator, and features labelled as “coming soon” include a pattern generator, voltmeter and frequency counter.
The optional battery provides up to eight hours of power.
Details include coloured LED ring lights around the knobs to indicate adjustable parameters, active sources or status.
“Natively integrated are software tools allow engineers to collaborate, troubleshoot, and debug designs across time zones.,” said the company. The scopes “include TekDrive, a test and measurement data workspace in the cloud where engineers can upload, store, organise, and share any file from a connected device. Users can also perform analysis on a waveform and save it back to the cloud for immediate viewing and feedback from peers.”
Warranty is one year, with option to extend to three or five years. Then there is an introductory offer of accidental damage protection.
