Waydoo Flyer ‘flying surfboard’

 

A surfboard/electric jet ski drone with a propeller below the water – the Waydoo Flyer costs US$6,495/UK£4,964/AUS$9,456).

 

The Flyer has a wireless Bluetooth hand-held controller for steering and toggling between five different speeds (up to 28mph maximum). It’s  got a 6,000W battery and keeps going for 75 minutes on one full battery charge.

 

Air Selfie AIR PIX

 

A selfie drone called Air Selfie AIR PIX costs US$100/UK£76/AUS$146). The 52g device has turbo fan propellers to lift-off to 20m, enough for in-app control of selfies, and built-in 8GB MicroSD card.

 

Photos are in 12 megapixel resolution and it takes full HD 1080p videos at 30fps using its 70-degree field of view wide-angle lens. It’s got five flight modes; manual, autonomous auto-fly, 360-degree autonomous, app-free auto-fly for flights (when not using a smartphone) and gesture control. Flight time between charges is six minutes. 

 

Good vibrations: There’s always a few of these at CES and one always wins an Innovation Award – possibly because that generates some useful publicity for the show. This year’s award winner is the Lioness. Here she is:

 

And then there’s the Amazfit T-Rex from smart clothing specialist Huami of China which teased the launch with this titbit: ‘‘If there’s one thing the history of evolution has taught us, it’s that life will not be contained. Is this the reason we’ll see a T-Rex launched at CES 2020?’
