As well as being used for product development, the company expects it to be built into products and bought by makers.

“Users can take advantage of 1.7x the single-thread performance and 1.5x the multi-thread performance along with up to 16Gbyte LPDDR4 system memory,” according to the company. Up to up to 64Gbyte of on-board eMMC is also possible.

Dubbed ‘UP Squared V2’, it has Intel’s Gen11 UHD graphics and interfaces for HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 and eDP 1.3 ports – allowing three 4K displays to be driven simultaneously.

The interface list continues with 2x Gbit Ethernet RJ-45 ports, 3x USB 3.2 Type A, a 40 pin GPIO header, one RS232/422 pin header, one SATA3 port and a TPM 2.0 connector for adding security.

“While the UP Squared offered expansion options in the form of a mini-PCIe and M.2 2230 E-Key slot, UP Squared V2 expands this potential with additional M.2 2280 M-Key and SATA III slots to give users the option of incorporating AI, PCIe and Wi-Fi modules, as well as providing security via its TPM 2.0 port,” said Aaeon.

Audio is covered by line output and microphone input connectors on a 6pin in-line header.

Power needs are 12V dc at 5A.

Windows 10, Windows IOT Core, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Yocto 3.1 are supported.

Example uses are automatically-guided vehicles, service robots and in smart factories.
