Warren Buffett invests in TSMC

Warren Buffett has invested around $5 billion in TSMC.

 

According to a regulatory filing, Berkshire Hathaway bought about 60 million American depository receipts in TSMC in Q3.

 

TSMC shares have have seen a sell off  of some $250 billion from their peak and the investment by Berkshire Hathaway was taken as a sigh that Buffett thinks the price has bottomed out. The price  surged 6% on the news.

 

At the average Q3 price of TSMC’s ADRs, the stake would have cost Buffett $5.1 billion. They currently trade at $72.80.

 

For many years Buffett has shied away from investing in tech but his biggest single investment is currently his $126 billion stake in Apple out of  total equity holdings worth $306 billion.
