Author: EIS Release Date: Nov 28, 2022

Harwin has expanded the contact layout options of its high-reliability Gecko-MT connectors.

Harwin Gecko MT
There are six additional contact arrangements, with 2 to 6 power contacts and 4 to 24 signal contacts. To give an idea of size: the connectors are 5mm wide.

These new ones are non-symmetrical, with 10A (max) power contacts at one end and 2A (2.8A max in one only) signal contacts at the other. Until now, they were all symmetrical and either 1+8+1 or 2+8+2 (signal contacts in the middle).

Contacts are four-fingered and beryllium copper.

“As with all the Gecko connectors, these latest variants have high resilience to shock and vibration,” according to the company. “They support a -65 to +150°C operating temperature range, and 1,000 minimum mating cycle durability.” Without loosing connections, they are expected to operate through 100g chocks and 20g vibration.

A range of hardware fixings are available for each contact layout, and both male and female connectors can be supplied in either standard gender or reverse fix.

There are front and rear panel mount options, plus board-mount fixings to reduce strain on solder joints – added up, there are 72 extra Gecko-MT connector variants.

Evaluation samples are available, connectors are shipped from stock, and the company provides a cable assembly and inspection service if required.

Board-to-board, cable-to-board and cable-to-cable applications are foreseen in aviation, space and high-end industrial markets.

Harwin makes its connectors in Hampshire UK.
