HVS gets £30m to develop HGV hydrogen fuel cells
Author: EIS Release Date: Dec 13, 2022
Hydrogen fuel cell specialist HVS of Glasgow has got a £30 million grant from the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) programme to develop hydrogen fuel cells for HGVs.
HVS is among five companies taking a share of £73 million raised by the UK government and the automobile industry to develop clean transport technology.
HVS will receive a £15 million grant from the government, with a further £15 million coming from industry.
Hydrogen fuel cells are seen as essential for HGVs as lithium-ion batteries scaled up for HGVs used would be prohibitively heavy and have lengthy charging times.
