Intel is on-track to regain process technology leadership in 2025, according to Ann Kelleher (pictured) head of technology development.

“We’re completely on track,” said Kelleher yesterday, “we do quarterly milestones, and according to those milestones we’re ahead or on-track.”

Kelleher said Intel is working more closely with the equipment manufacturers than it has in the past.

“Intel in the past had high walls in terms of not sharing,” said Kelleher, “we don’t need to lead in everything.”

intel set out to develop, and put into production, five process nodes in four years.

Intel is currently in volume production of  Intel 7. Kelleher stated: “Seven measures nothing, we might as well call it ‘George.’”

Intel 4 is ready to start production and Intel 3 starts in H2 2023.

Intel hopes to be the process leader in 2025 with its 18A GAA process which rivals Samsung and TSMC call 2nm.
