TDK has introduced six models to its 7.5kW ‘Genesys+’ series of 7.5kW programmable dc power supplies.

The new values of 0-30V (250A), 0-60V (125A), 0-80V (94A), 0-200V (37.5A), 0-300V (25A) and 0-1000V (7.5A) slot in between earlier models in the series, introduced in July (see this article for more details).

The units need three-phase ac power and there are versions for 170 to 265Vac or 342 to 528Vac. Power factor correction is included, and operating efficiencies are up to 92%.

For versions with outputs up to 100V, output is through two thick copper blades protruding 65mm from the rear of the enclosure, each with two 10.5mm holes for bolting on the output cables. Versions above that voltage have shorter blades with one 8.5mm hole each. For parallel operation there are two busbar kit: one for up to 30kW (four units) and the other for up to 45kW (six units).

In parallel, “dynamic response and ripple and noise performance comparable to that of a single power supply”, said TDK. “Up to 12 units can be connected in parallel by connecting a single data link cable between units and connecting the dc outputs. The command and auxiliary units auto-configure by detecting the parallel data connection and setting their parameters accordingly.”

The 423 x 486.5 x 43.6mm size allows ‘zero stack rack mounting’. Weight is <8.5kg and cooling is through automatic variable speed fans.
