Tear-down shows Fold 4 more profitable than iPhone 14

A teardown of  Fold 4 -Samsung’s latest foldable phone – by Fomalhaut Techno Solutions of Tokyo, shows that its estimated cost of components is about 40% of the phone’s  sale price, making it more profitable than the iphone 14.

 

The local content value is about 50% of the total value of the components.

 

The estimated component cost is about $670, less than 40% of its sales price of $1,800.. 

 

iphone 14 has a component cost of 46% of its sale price of $1,300.

 

Samsung supplies its own OLEDs and memory  for the Fold 4, LG supplies the battery and Qualcomm supplies the processor.

 

The components inside Fold 4 are not packed as tightly on the board as they are in iphones which may mean more functionality is planned for future models.
