China chip imports fall

China’s imports of ICs fell 31% y-o-y in January and February to $47.8 billion from $68.8 billion last year, according to China’s General Administration of Customs.
 
In units, the decline was 26.5% to 67.58 billion chips from 92 million chips in Jan/Feb 2022.
 
In the full year of 2022, the unit decline was 15.3%.
 
It was the first time for 18 years that China’s IC imports have fallen y-o-y.
 
In 2021, imports grew 17%, in 2020 by 22%, and 2019 by 6.6%..
