At APEC in Florida, air cored motor company Infinitum announced a technology collaboration with Germany’s Infineon Technologies to put Infineon’s silicon carbide power mosfets into its motors.
Infinitum-Aircore air cored motor
Infinitum’s current crop of motors have integrated electronics, run from 460Vac, and the different versions are rated over a span of 3 to 12kW.
Sadly, no more information associated with the deal is available, so Electronics weekly has asked for some – watch this space.
Why is its colour red? The company writes: “The color red was chosen by Infinitum CEO and founder, Ben Schuler, a red-head. Growing up, Ben was was often singled out for being different. The color red represents an embrace of being different and a challenge to the status quo. Besides, if our motors didn’t stand out you might not ever know we were there.”
