“With increasing adoption of electric vehicles, one significant challenge to be tackled is the effective and validation of BMS,” said Pickering simulation product manager Paul Bovingdon. “Using modular, PXI-based switch and simulation modules offers advantages, including flexibility to optimise the test system to meet exact requirements, simple modification to address evolving needs and an industry-standard architecture [for] seamless integration of multi-vendor instrumentation modules.”

The demonstrator includes:

PXI battery simulator – simulates a stacked architecture
PXI fault insertion – simulates cell shorts and broken wires
PXI precision resistor – simulates battery load
PXIe programmable resistor – tests BMS isolation resistance check
PXI programmable PSU – simulates battery charger
PXI embedded controller
PXIe 18-slot chassis
Find the demonstrator it on stand B42 in Hall 2 at Battery Tech Expo (Silverstone Circuit, 20th April). This it its UK debut – it was first seen at Novi in Michigan in September, then Electronica in Munich.

Of Battery Tech Expo, Essex-based Pickering said: “Now in its sixth year, Battery Tech Expo is the leading event for the UK’s battery industry, bringing together professionals from across the advanced battery technology and energy storage sectors. The event will showcase products, technologies and services spanning battery management systems, electric vehicle batteries, battery storage, battery development, commercial power devices and mobile power devices.”
