Mouser Electronics and Texas Instruments have teamed up to explore the challenges of electric urban air transportation (think: ‘big drones’) in a 26 page ebook.

“Over the next ten years, the urban air mobility market will mature sufficiently to make short distance, point-to-point travel commonplace and affordable in densely populated areas through driver-less air taxis,” according to Mouser. “The five chapters of the eBook glimpse into the future of UAM vehicles, the challenges facing the industry, how to ensure functional safety, the importance of electrical isolation and managing urban air mobility complexity and weight.”

This no in-depth technology study, but it is freely down-loadable and provides a compact scan across the electric flying people carrier landscape, noting functional safety, power handling and signal isolation issues that have many parallels in development for electric vehicles.
