Yokogowa has added HCDR (high close-in dynamic range) mode and SMSR (side mode suppression ratio) mode to its AQ6370 optical spectrum analyser.
Yokogawa AQ6370E_Optical Spectrum Analyser
Found in AQ6370E, HCDR mode allows measurement of a single longitudinal mode laser with a high close-in dynamic range – CDR is a metric important when developing lasers and optical devices. SMSR mode is intended to halve SMSR measurement time.
Alongside these is an APP mode, which can provide a device-under-test with a specific user interface that navigates the user from configuration settings to test result output, “so that customers who are unfamiliar with optical spectrum analysers can use it easily” according to the company.
The new version also has a large LCD touch screen.
Wavelength accuracy is typically ±0.008nm across the instrument’s 600 to 1,700nm range with a resolution of 0.02nm.
Close-in dynamic range is typically 78dB, and the level range is +20 to -90dBm.
CE marking requirements are expected to be met by the end of June.
Use is foreseen characterising components including lasers for optical communications, optical transceivers and optical amplifiers.
The AQ6370E product page can be found here, although it has very little information at the moment, or see the analyser next week at Laser World of Photonics in Munich (27-30 June) or Comnext in Tokyo (28-30 June).
