Rutronik is adding 600 V and 1200 V FREDs (fast recovery epitaxial diodes) from Panjit of Taiwan to its portfolio.
Rutronik Panjit freds
Panjit FREDs come in two classes: Optima (low forward voltage) and Speedy (low reverse recovery time).
They “are ideal for rectifier or freewheeling circuits in a wide range of power applications, such as UPS systems or data centers, but also household appliances”, according to Rutronik. “Optima-type FREDs are suitable for rectifier circuits such as high-power bridge diodes and bypass diodes, and predestined for low switching frequency applications. Speedy-FREDs, on the other hand, are more suitable for high-frequency free-wheeling switching in CCM [continuous conduction]boost PFC and Vienna PFC.”
Picking a 600V 8A pair in TO-252AA packaging, the Speedy PSDC0860S1 drops 1.8V and recovers in 35ns, while the Optima PSDC0860L1 drops 1.3V and recovers in 60ns. Max leakage current in both cases is 100μA (600V 25°C) rising to 500μA at 125°C.
Currents up to 60A at 600V or 1.2kV are available, and packages span TO-263, TO-220 (isolated and non-isolated) and TO-247.
