Within is a conductive cooled Xeon E-2276ME 9th generation CPU, and the fanless unit can be operated in environments from -20°C to +60°C given a suitable thermally conductive environment.

Screening for -40°C to +85°C operation is possible. “In such a case, the solution is tested in the climate chamber from -45°C to +90°C to insure a trouble free operation in this range as not all parts are available with this wide range,” the company told Electronics Weekly.

Up to 64Gbyte DDR4 memory can be fitted, there is space for 2.5in SSD or other expansions, and two mPCIe and two m.2 slots offer further expansion. PCIe/104 or PCIe cards can be fitted.

Up to 100W of power is needed at 10-36Vdc, with an option up to 110Vdc. Protections against ESD, EMC, reverse polarity and 150V load-dump is included. Minimum consumption is 5W.

PIP40 computers meet or are designed to meet IEC60945, EN50155, EN55022, EN55024, EN61000, MIL-STD-461E, EN 60068, MIL-STD-810G, EN 60601, EN 60950, CE, IACS and E10.

“Particular precautions during the design have been taken that the entire system EMC is within the CE and FCC limits, and standards like EN50155, IEC60945 or MIL-STD-810 can be met,” according to the company.

The computers are engineered and manufactured in Switzerland. “All MPL products are designed for long-term availability and the PIP40 family will be available for at least 10 years,” it said. “MPL’s own component stock guarantees repairs for up to 20 years.”
