Arm expected to file for IPO this week

Author: EIS Release Date: Aug 29, 2023

Arm is expected to file for its public offer this week after buying back the 25% stake in the company which it sold to its Vision Fund.

According to Bloomberg the filing will show that Arm’s revenues declined  by about 1% to $2.68 billion in its last fiscal year ending March 31, and sales for the quarter  ended June 30 fell 2.5% to $675 million.

It was a bad year for  mobile phone sales from where Arm gets most of its revenues.

It is expected that Softbank will sell about 10% of Arm’s shares. Although the Vision Fund deal valued Arm at $64 billion, independent valuations range from $19 billion to $73 billion.

Softbank is reported to have asked Apple, Intel and Nvidia to be anchor investors – buying a stake before the public offer.

Apple, of course, was one of the three original owners of Arm in the Acorn-VLSI Technology-Apple jv which put up the £1.75 million founding capital in 1990.
