Foldables take 1.6% market share

Foldables will only take 1.6% of the smartphone market this year, says TrendForce, representing 18.3 million units and a 43% rise from last year.

 

Next year, 38% growth to 25.2 million foldables will represent 2.2% of the market.

 

 

 

In 2027, TrendForce reckons the units will be up to 70 million representing 5% of the market.

 

 

 Samsung leads the pack with an expected 12.5 million units this year but its 82% market share last year slipped to 68% this year in the face of foldables from China – from Oppo and Xiaomi – taking shares of 5% and 4% respectively.

 

 

Meanwhile Apple holds its fire.
