Author: EIS Release Date: Oct 10, 2023
Last week Intel started using EUV in volume manufacturing for the first time. Fab34 in Leixlip near Dublin is the first Intel volume fab to use the Intel 4 EUV-based process which was developed in Intel’s Oregon development fab. The Leixlip fab has seven EUV machines.
“I am proud of the Intel team as well as our customers, suppliers and partners who worked with us to bring this moment to life and keep us on the path back to process leadership,” said Pat Gelsinger, Intel CEO, at the opening ceremony for Fab34.
“The transfer of Intel 4 process technology into high-volume production in Ireland is a giant step toward enabling leading-edge manufacturing in Europe and a huge moment for our technology development teams in Oregon,” said Dr. Ann Kelleher, evp and gm for Technology Development at Intel.
“The opening of Fab 34 marks yet another historic day for Intel and for the team in Ireland,” said Leo Varadkar, Irish Taoiseach. .
