Power Integrations has introduced a 1,250V GaN version of its Innoswitch family of off-line constant-voltage constant-current quasi-resonant fly-back switcher ICs, making the options: 725V silicon, 750, 900 or 1.25kV GaN or 1.7kV silicon carbide.

These are multi-die devices in a single package, with synchronous output and a proprietary inductive isolated feedback technique using bond-wires.
The new devices have been dubbed ‘InnoSwitch3-EP 1250V’.
“Switching losses for Power Integrations’ proprietary 1,250V technology are less than a third of that seen in equivalent silicon devices at the same voltage,” claimed the company. “This results in power conversion efficiency as high as 93%, enabling compact power supplies that can deliver up to 85W without a heatsink. Designers using the new ICs can confidently specify an operating peak voltage of 1,000V, which allows for industry-standard 80% de-rating from the 1,250V absolute maximum.”
PowerInt InnoSwitch3-EP InSOP 24D packagePackaging is INSOP-24D, and a reference design, DER-1025, is scheduled to be available covering a 12V 6A converter.
DigiKey, Newark, Mouser and RS Components will be stocking the devices.
