Perle Systems has introduced industrial grade real-time managed Ethernet switches with both fibre and copper ports, in a 45 x 93 x 109mm DIN rail mount package.

Perle IDS-710CT-XLG copper and fibre Ethernet switches
“This represents a significant advancement in network infrastructure for industrial environments,” claimed the company. “The two 1000Base-X fiber connectors can extend Gigabit Ethernet operating distances over fibre up to 160km.”

The fan-less units come in two temperature ranges: IDS-710CT for -10 to +60°C and IDS-710CT-XT for -40 and 70°C. Ingress protection is IP20.

The fibre connectors can be ST or SC types depending on model, and multi-mode or single-mode fibres can be accommodated.

Alongside the optical ports are eight isolated (1.5kV) RJ45 copper ports for 10/100/1000-Base-T Ethernet.

Management is through an IPv6 address or via a front panel MicroUSB Type B port.

Supported protocols and features include: Profinet and Modbus TCP for monitoring and device management, ring protocol MRP (IEC 62439-2) for <10ms recovery time, STP/RSTP/MSTP for network redundancy, IEEE 1588 V1 and V2 PTP for timing, and TACACS+, Radius, 802.1x, SSH, SNMPv3, and HTTPS.

Dual reverse polarity protected 9.6-60Vdc power inputs are provided to support 12, 24 and 48V nominal rails, consumption is 8W max from 24V.

Applications are foreseen in industrial automation, military, oil, gas, mining, and other outdoor.
