After many months of shortages, Intel CEO Bob Swan (pictured) has posted an open letter on the company’s web-site saying that Intel’s deliveries are 90% on-time.
“I am equally inspired by the deep commitment of our teams to sustain our manufacturing, assembly, test and supply chain operations in Oregon, New Mexico, California and Arizona, as well as Israel, Ireland, China, Malaysia, Vietnam and other Intel and partner locations around the world,” writes Swan, “they are working hard to make sure you can continue to be successful while sustaining a rate of on-time delivery currently greater than 90%.”
Intel’s CPU shortages have now lasted for two years. Swan apologized for them in October 2018 and another apology was issued in November 2019.
HPE said it expected the shortage of Intel server processors to last until the end of 2020 and there is a general expectation that PC CPUs will still be in short supply until the end of the year.
