Renesas is to buy GaN specialist Transphorm In a deal which values Transphorm  at approximately $339 million.
IMG_2695-150x150.jpegThe acquisition will provide Renesas with in-house GaN technology used in PMICs for EVs, computing (data centres, AI, infrastructure), renewable energy, industrial power conversion and fast chargers/adapters.   Renesas has already announced the establishment of an in-house SiC production line, supported by a 10 year SiC wafer supply agreement and now aims to further expand its Wide Band Gap (WBG) portfolio with GaN which  enables higher switching frequency, lower power losses, and smaller form factors.
