Infineon has added post-quantum cryptography support to 28nm 500MHz automotive processors.
Infineon Aurix TC4x automotive post-quantum
Called Aurix TC4Dx, they are rated for ISO/SAE21434 cyber security standards, and are the first members of the first member of the TC4x.
They have six cores, with lock-step operation for high-level functional safety – ISO26262 ASIL-D is the target.
“With its parallel processing unit, the microcontroller provides a platform for developing embedded AI-based use cases such as motor control, battery management systems or vehicle motion control,” according to the company.
Interface options include 5Gbit/s Ethernet, PCIe, 10Base-T1S and CAN-XL, and there are networking accelerators to boost Ethernet and CAN communication.
“Microcontrollers like our Aurix TC4Dx are the backbone of software-defined vehicles,” claimed company v-p of MCUs Thomas Boehm.
Few more details have been made public so far. Fingers are crossed for more at the official launch in Munich at Electronica 2024 – 12 to 15 November, hall C3, stand 502.
