DigiKey has officially launched an Indian subsidiary, DigiKey Electronics & Automation Trading Private Limited.
It will be operating out of the distributor’s Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bengaluru (also known as Bangalore). The company is now employing 300 people in India.

“This milestone represents a major step forward in DigiKey’s global strategy,” said Dave Doherty, its CEO.
“India’s tech ecosystem and skilled workforce are key to our continued success in the region. We are thrilled to deepen our roots and invest in the future of DigiKey India.”

The company says the new Indian subsidiary marks a milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy. It intends the GCC to serve as a global hub and signalling future growth for hiring and expansion, it says.

The GCC itself dates from February 2023. The 30,000 square foot facility is in Bhartiya City in Bengaluru.
It was the first GCC of its kind to be set up by the Minnesota-based distributor.
It has described the facility as an integral part of its long-term strategy. That it will “serve as an epicentre for technology and innovation for Digi-Key’s operations globally”, enabling it to keep pace with changing demands for services.
Bangaluru, nicknamed the “Silicon Valley of India”, is in the southern state of Karnataka.
