XP Power has released a series of convection cooled 600W ac-dc power supplies with a 5 x 8in footprint (127 x 203 x 40mm).
Efficiency up to 95% minimises waste heat and allows full rated power to be delivered in ambients up to +50ºC, even at low line input. 300W is available at 70ºC without forced air cooling being. If a fan is needed, there is a 12V 600mA auxiliary output to drive it. Minimum operating temperature is -20°C.
There is also a 5V 1A auxillary output on all types.
There are four models, each with a different main output:
12V 50A UCH600PS12
24V 25A UCH600PS24
36V 16.6A UCH600PS36
48V 12.5A UCH600PS48
“The UCH600 series is ideal for use where no forced air is available, or fan noise or the ingress of dirt is undesirable,” according to XP. “This includes medical devices, as well as those requiring BF patient protection, that need to operate silently, also ITE or industrial electronics applications in environments where dirt ingress would be exacerbated by forced air cooling or where audible noise and fan reliability issues mean forced air cooling is impractical.”
The supplies meet EN55011/32 Class B for both conducted and radiated emissions “with significant margin, making them a low risk for integration and system approvals for the end-use equipment”, claimed the company. Class C harmonics compliance is there for lighting and display applications.
Worldwide safety approvals including IEC60950-1, IEC/EN/UL62368-1 and IEC/EN60601-1 3rd Edition.
The UCH600 series is available from Digi-Key, Farnell, Mouser, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power with a 3-year warranty.
