Snap-in electrolytics save space over previous Vishay parts

Author: EIS Release Date: Apr 27, 2020

Vishay has introduced a series of snap-in power aluminium electrolytic capacitors for use in high power density designs.

The ‘257 PRM-SI’ series offers up to 20% higher ripple current than its previous solutions, in case sizes that are up to 20% smaller, while providing longer useful life to 5,000 hours at 85°C, according to the company. Ripple currents are up to 5.05A.

They come in blue-sleeved cylindrical aluminium cases in 25 sizes ranging from 22 x 25mm to 35 x 60mm, and they are also available with three pin keyed polarity snap-in terminals.

Rated voltages span up to 500V.

The RoHS-compliant devices have a non-solid electrolyte and are foreseen in smoothing, buffering and dc-link filtering in switch mode power supplies used in medical, industrial, audio-visual and consumer applications, as well as for welding.
