Aldershot-based Fath Components, normally a maker of enclosure parts and other metal and plastic parts, has added Type FFP2 aerosol filtration face masks to its product repertoire.
The company is gearing up to manufacture face masks at its main plant in Germany, planning to produce and dispatch 50,000 masks a day.
“From Monday 27th April it has been law in Germany for all citizens to wear masks when in a public place, and our Type FFP2 face mask is recommended for use in the fight against coronavirus,” according to Fath UK MD David Hayes. “For some weeks now the management team at our plant in Germany has been striving to establish a new production facility to meet anticipated demand.”
According to the company, it plans to make “significant numbers” of Type FFP2 face masks available to health service providers, institutions and care homes at cost-price, with any additional production then retailing direct to the general public via its website and established network of distributors.
“As a business currently supplying in excess of 23,000 different manufactured products from our head office in Germany, we are used to taking new designs from concept to finished items leaving the factory gate speedily,” said Hayes. “But the manufacturing of FFP2 masks has required a whole new production facility to be designed and commissioned, in record time.”
Mask approvals are: FFP2, CE, EN149:2001+A1:2009 and KN95
