We caught up (remotely) with Chris Elliott one of the founders of Leman Micro Devices (LMD), who discusses the company’s timely ambition to bring medical measurements into the consumer space.
“We want to get accurate medical vitals signs measured by every mobile device,” he tells us. Why? Because signs such as blood-pressure and temperature levels can be key indicators of health problems.
“When we call a taxi or when we check our bank account, we don’t have do it in person any more. It’s all on our mobile device. So all we’re doing is extending that into the medical world. You don’t go the the doctor to check your weight why should you go to check your blood pressure?”
The first LMD sensor-based devices could be on sale by 2021, he expects.
Thank you to Chris for his time.
